Cub Club I is designed for our youngest bears ages 4–6. Each day is packed with age-appropriate movement games, motor skill development, arts & crafts, team games, a feature movie, and fun Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu themed activities in a safe, positive, and high-energy environment.
Our goal is to help children build confidence, make new friends, improve coordination, and fall in love with movement and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu through play-based learning. Throughout the week, kids will also learn important life lessons centered around respect, teamwork, listening skills, anti-bullying, self-defense awareness, discipline, and kindness both on and off the mat.
Each day includes a mix of structured activities, supervised free play, outdoor recreation, creative projects, and beginner-friendly BJJ movement games designed specifically for younger children.
Sample Activities Include:
- Bear crawls, obstacle courses, relay races, and movement games
- Beginner BJJ drills and safe self-defense concepts
- Team-building games and partner challenges
- Arts & crafts projects and themed activity days
- Story time and discussions about confidence, respect, and friendship
- Movie time with age-appropriate animated and martial arts themed films
- Supervised outdoor recreation and park adventures

Cub Club II is designed for kids ages 7–10 who are ready for a more structured and challenging Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu summer experience. Each day combines real BJJ training, athletic development, team games, conditioning, drilling, and live training in a safe, positive, and high-energy environment led by experienced coaches. Our goal is to help students build confidence, discipline, teamwork, resilience, and stronger martial arts fundamentals while continuing to develop a love for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Throughout the week, kids will improve coordination, body awareness, fitness, and problem-solving skills while learning important lessons about respect, accountability, self-defense, anti-bullying, and leadership both on and off the mats.
Each day includes a structured mix of technical instruction, movement training, partner drills, supervised sparring, conditioning exercises, outdoor recreation, and team-building activities designed specifically for young athletes and growing competitors.
Sample Activities Include:
- Beginner and intermediate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction
- Positional training, takedowns, guard work, escapes, and submissions
- Live drilling and supervised sparring rounds
- Athletic conditioning circuits and movement training
- Team competitions and BJJ-themed games
- Partner drills focused on technique and coordination
- Self-defense concepts and anti-bullying discussions
- Relay races, obstacle courses, and outdoor recreation
- Confidence-building exercises and leadership activities
- Students will train in a structured but encouraging environment where the focus is on learning, improving, staying active, and having fun while developing strong habits both as martial artists and teammates.
- Recreational activities and a movie day.
What To Bring:
- Comfortable athletic wear (rash guard preferred, but not required)
- Packed lunch + morning and afternoon snacks
- Refillable water bottle — kids stay hydrated throughout the day
- Closed-toe athletic shoes for park time
- Small backpack or bag for belongings
- Sunscreen applied before arrival (coaches will assist with reapplication for park days)
- Any medications with clear written instructions for coaches
- A positive attitude and readiness to make new friends!
Parents can expect a fun, safe, structured, and memorable summer experience where kids stay active, build confidence, and develop valuable social and physical skills while having an amazing week on the mats with the Rolling Bear BJJ team.
Outdoor Recreation / Park Days
Kids will participate in 2 optional outdoor recreation days during the week. Participants will be escorted by coaches and staff on a supervised 7-block guided rope walk to DiMario Park in Kenilworth, NJ for approximately 1 hour of outdoor activities including playground games, relay races, team activities, and free play.
Participation in park trips is completely optional. A separate group of children and coaches will remain inside the academy for indoor activities for any families who prefer their child not attend the outdoor portion.

Expectations & Camp Policies
To help create a safe, organized, and positive experience for every child, all participants and families are expected to follow the policies below:
Drop-Off & Arrival Policy
- Children must be dropped off promptly between 8:30 AM and 9:00 AM.
- To avoid disrupting the structure and flow of the daily program, children may not be dropped off after 9:00 AM.
- Morning activities begin immediately and include warm-ups, team games, and daily instruction.
Pick-Up Policy
- Pick-up time begins at 2:45 PM and ends at 3:00 PM.
- All children must be picked up no later than 3:15 PM, as coaches must prepare for scheduled academy classes immediately afterward.
- Repeated late pick-ups may result in additional fees or removal from the program.
Behavior & Respect
- All children are expected to show respect toward coaches, staff, and fellow peers at all times.
- Bullying, aggressive behavior, unsafe conduct, or repeated disruption will not be tolerated.
- Rolling Bear BJJ maintains a structured and disciplined environment focused on teamwork, accountability, and positive behavior.
Demerit & Discipline System
A daily demerit system will be used to help maintain a safe and respectful atmosphere:
- Children who receive 3 demerits for unacceptable behavior may be removed from camp activities and may risk dismissal for the day or from the summer program.
- Coaches will always attempt positive correction, redirection, and communication before escalating behavior concerns.
- If a student is dismissed from the entirety summer program due to behavior, a partial refund of 50% will be returned to the parents.
A disciplinary system is also in place where children who are not following instructions or behaving appropriately may temporarily lose participation privileges in certain games or activities as part of behavioral correction and accountability.
