A clear training path

Start at your level.
Keep progressing.

Classes are structured so you can learn the fundamentals, connect techniques under resistance, and grow into more demanding training without being rushed past the details.

01

Fundamentals

Learn essential movement, positions, escapes, control, and submissions through clear instruction and repetition. This is the best starting point for students building a technical foundation.

02

Intermediate

Connect core concepts to more advanced sequences, positional problem-solving, focused rounds, and live rolling that develops timing, confidence, and decision-making.

03

Advanced

Work detailed systems, competition scenarios, conditioning, and demanding live rounds designed for experienced students ready to sharpen performance.

Three modalities

Build a more
complete game.

Gi, No-Gi, and wrestling each develop a different layer of grappling. Train the style that fits your goals or combine all three.

GI

Gi Jiu-Jitsu

Use grips, structure, leverage, and patient positional control to build technical escapes, passing, submissions, and a precise understanding of pressure.

NO-GI

No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu

Develop grip-free control, faster transitions, takedowns, scrambles, and submissions that reward timing, movement, and adaptability.

WRESTLING

Wrestling

Build confident takedowns, defense, pressure, control, and scrambles with dedicated instruction from Coach Walid Elashri.

  • No previous martial arts or wrestling experience is required.
  • Coaches help you choose the class level that fits your experience.
  • Gi and No-Gi classes develop transferable grappling fundamentals.

Adult BJJ questions

Before your
first class.

Starting is straightforward. Come ready to learn, and the coaching team will handle the rest.

Do I need to be in shape before starting BJJ?

No. Training helps develop conditioning over time. Work at a sustainable pace, communicate with your coach, and build consistency before worrying about intensity.

Do I need a Gi for my first class?

Contact us before your visit and we will direct you to the right class and let you know exactly what to wear. Clean, fitted athletic clothing works for No-Gi.

Will I have to spar on my first day?

No. Your first experience should focus on learning the room, the movements, and the class structure. Coaches will guide you toward live training when it makes sense.

Can experienced students train at Rolling Bear?

Yes. Intermediate and Advanced classes provide detailed instruction, positional rounds, live rolling, and competition-focused training for experienced grapplers.
